Cat5 Commerce Tops Internet Retailer's Second 500 Guide

Niche online retailer Cat5 Commerce moved up 86 places to No. 502 on Internet Retailer's annual rank of e-retailers. Internet Retailer, a magazine covering the e-commerce industry, based its ranking on online merchants' 2012 web sales. Cat5 Commerce, which operates 10 online stores in the tactical gear, running shoes and workwear space, has been noted by Internet Retailer as one of the top 10 fastest-growing online retailers since 2009 on the Second 500 list.

The Second 500 Guide accompanies the 2013 Top 500 Guide, and it features Internet retailers that grossed under $18.7 million in 2012. Cat5 Commerce reported $18.5 million in sales in 2012, up 54.2 percent from $12 million in 2011.

"We deployed new email marketing technology in 2012 that really took things to the next level," said Andrew Hoefener, COO of Cat5 Commerce. “We are providing more innovative ways to bring products to market. The online shopping experience is becoming more sophisticated every day, and we strive to be on the forefront of serving our customers best."

Hoefener estimates that Cat5 Commerce is on track to bring in around $26 million in 2013. That would mean a 40.5 percent increase year over year and likely qualify the e-commerce company to make its debut in the Top 500 Guide.

"Breaking into the Internet Retailer's Top 500 has been a long-time goal of ours," Hoefener said. “Being two places away from it this year makes us even more confident we will achieve that ranking next year."
